Long Journey Pet Care

Traveling long distances with your pet requires more than just packing their favorite toys and treats; ensuring they stay hydrated is one of the most critical aspects of long journey pet care. Extended travel can take a toll on your pet’s well-being, especially if they’re not used to being in a moving vehicle or different environments for long periods.

First, create a hydration schedule. Plan to stop every 2-3 hours to offer water, especially if you’re traveling by car. Dogs and other larger pets need to drink frequently, while smaller pets may need slightly less frequent breaks but should still have access to water.

If you’re flying with your pet, ensure their travel carrier has a secure, spill-proof water container. For animals in the cargo hold, it’s even more important to provide water before and after the flight.

Lastly, make sure to acclimatize your pet to drinking from portable water dispensers or bottles before the trip. This ensures that they won’t be reluctant to drink when you offer water during the journey.
